After being clobbered the hardest, the tech sector staged a surprise comeback this week, bouncing back after Trump hit pause on his “reciprocal tariffs” plan. Our champions this week are Snowflake and CrowdStrike, both up over 20%.
Sure, the broader risk-on mood helped, but these two aren’t just riding the wave — their fundamentals are rock solid.
Snowflake got a big win on Thursday, bagging a U.S. Department of Defence IL5 Provisional Authorisation on AWS GovCloud (West). In plain English? They can now handle top-tier, sensitive military data — a massive step into the multi-billion-dollar defence tech market. It’s also a sign Snowflake is doubling down on the U.S. as global geopolitics stay tense and supply chains get a rethink.
CrowdStrike is a cyber security giant, well-known for its one-stop cloud-based Falcon platform that keeps out cyber nasties, and it’s powered by AI. It's already trusted by 70% of the Fortune 100, 18 of the top 20 U.S. banks, and 44 of 50 U.S. states. This week, it sweetened the deal with a deeper partnership with Google Cloud to provide end-to-end security for AI innovation. Add to that, an 80% margin on subscription revenue has spurred several banks to elevate its target price this week.

VIX took a hit this week, thanks to Trump’s tariff suspension and the market getting somewhat desensitised to his unpredictable moves — it dropped by roughly 10%.
But let’s be clear—this 90-day pause doesn’t mean the chaos is over. With our hefty exposure to volatile tech stocks, VIX remains our crucial safety net. The recent weeks have proven this hedge is worthwhile, so we’re sticking with our VIX position, despite its sharp decline this week.
