The S&P 500 is arguably the most popular index in the world, and consists of the 500 largest American companies by market cap. In today’s newsletter, we explore who the largest names are, and then break down the index by sectors.
Top 25 in S&P 500
It is unsurprising to see the Big Tech names still reigning supreme in the S&P 500. The five largest of them have all surpassed valuations of $1T! Nvidia in particular has had a very good year, with their market cap being only around $350B this time last year. That is an increase of over 200%! Others that haven’t done as well and have actually dropped out of the top 25 include: Bank of America, Pfizer, and Coca Cola.
